Each restorative formula at Tao Apothecary is curated with organic and wildcrafted herbs. Our potent herbal medicines are designed to improve cell, tissue, and organ function for enhanced health and well-being. All herbs are harvested responsibly.

  • tinctures / extracts

    An herbal tincture is the liquid extract of one or more parts of a medicinal plant. The most commonly used solvent to extract the potent constituents from a plant is alcohol, although vegetable glycerin, apple cider vinegar, and water may also be used.

    Tinctures are generally more bio-available than capsules and are absorbed and utilized by the body more easily. This is because tinctures do not need to be digested and therefore begin acting immediately upon ingestion.

  • elixirs + syrups

    Herbal syrups are perhaps one of the oldest forms of herbal preparations. When you combine a natural sweetener with a water-based extraction of an herb(s), you get an herbal syrup. They have been used traditionally for colds, infection and for culinary use. Syrups containing honey should not be given to children under one year old.

    Elixirs typically refer to a combination of an herbal syrup or infused honey with an alcohol of some kind. Elixirs and syrups often require a slightly larger dose than a tincture or capsule.

    Herbal capsules are lightweight and easy to use, making them a convenient option. They must pass through the digestive system to be properly absorbed by the body, the rate of which can vary from person to person.

    Capsules contain dried plant material which has been ground into a powder, and are available in a range of sizes and can be . Our capsules are vegetarian.

  • loose herbs / tea

    Loose herbs and loose-leaf teas are herbs that have been harvested, dried and cut & sifted. They may be used to make herbal infusions (teas) that range from mild to strong, or infused in oil for cooking or skincare.

    Loose herbs and tea are usually packaged and sold by weight.
